ABOUT CESP
Founded in 1988 in Avila (Spain), the European Council of Police Unions is made up of some 300.000 police officers in 18 countries of Europe. In 1991, it was officially recognised by the Council of Europe as a Non-Governmental Organisation with a consultative status and is a member of the Joint Commission of the NGO since 1998.
To improving the mission of public service given to the police officers, the CESP takes up the challenge to re-valorise the police function thanks to the responsible trade-union organisations which make it up.

Database ? Police Forces and Police Unions in Europe
CESPDATABASE is a database created by the European Council of Police Trade Unions (CESP), with indicators supplied by its affiliated unions and other reliable official entities, aimed at providing all interested parties, especially European police forces, with a systematic portrayal of European police institutions (organisational structures, professional careers, professional and remuneration statutes), as well as of how unions are organised within these police forces (union organisation, legal conditions for pursuing union activity for shop stewards and members, etc.).
We hope to introduce the data for 2010 soon, a year which will mark, in terms of complete indicators, the official start-up of this database, which already has a substantial store of data relative to 2007.
This database is still a beta version so we would appreciate you sending all of your comments, suggestions and criticisms to cespdatabase@gmail.com.
